When editing polygons, there are three editing modes available as outlined in the paragraphs below. The current mode can be changed while dragging a vertex by pressing the Shift+Spacebar keys to cycle through the modes. The Shift+Spacebar keys can be used to change corner shapes. Each time you click, a new vertex is added. Once the command is launched, the cursor becomes a crosshair. The command is run by selecting the desired region, right-clicking on it then selecting Polygon Actions » Modify Polygon Border. In addition to the vertex editing, the Modify Region Border command allows you to easily change the shape of regions. The command is accessed in Board Planning Mode ( View » Board Planning Mode) by clicking Design » Modify Board Shape. Similar to the Modify Polygon Border command, the Modify Board Shape command allows you to easily change the shape of the board. To delete a vertex, click and hold on the vertex as if you were going to move it then press the Delete key.Region modifications take effect immediately. After modifying a polygon pour, you will need to repour that polygon, for the modification to take effect.Right-click over one of the pours in the selection then choose the Polygon Actions » Combine Selected Polygons command from the context menu.Select all polygon pours that are to be combined.Place new (or drag existing polygon pours) so that they are overlapping each other as required. Two or more polygon pour objects can be combined by performing the following sequence of actions: Each end vertex represents the location where two edges meet. Each edge is represented by an end vertex at each end, shown as a solid white square, and a center vertex in the middle, shown as a hollow white square. The outer shape of the polygonal object is defined by a series of edges. This puts the polygonal object into edit mode. Editing a Polygonal ObjectĬlick once on a polygonal object to select it. Press Shift+Spacebar to cycle through the five available corner modes, press the 1 shortcut to toggle placement between two edges or one edge. Press the Backspace key to remove the last vertex. ![]() In this second mode the dashed edge is referred to as the look-ahead segment (as shown in the last image in the set below). Press the 1 shortcut key to toggle between placing two edges per click, or one edge per click.Hold the Shift key as you press to accelerate arc resizing. When in either of the arc corner modes, hold the or keys to shrink or grow the arc.Press Spacebar to toggle between the two corner direction sub-modes.Press Shift+Spacebar to cycle through the five available corner modes: 45 degree, 45 degree with arc, 90 degree, 90 degree with arc, and Any Angle. While placing a polygonal-shaped object, there are five available corner modes, four of which also have corner direction sub-modes. The editing behavior of polygonal-shaped design objects is consistent across all objects. Custom Shape Pad – when a pad is defined as a custom shape pad, its shape can be interactively edited in the design space as a polygonal object. It is a region that assists in the placement of components. Room – a room is a primitive design object.Board Shape – a board shape or board outline is a closed polygon that defines the boundary, or extents, of the board.Extruded 3D Body – the plan view of an extruded 3D Body is defined as a polygonal shape. When created from regions, each isolated section of copper is a region object. Polygon Pour – polygon pours can be created from region objects or tracks and arcs.Region – region objects are used to create polygonal-shaped copper regions, polygon cutouts, board cutouts, and cavity definitions. ![]() There are a number of polygonal-shaped objects including: Perhaps the most versatile object shape in Altium Designer is the polygonal object.
